I woke up this morning wishing I were in the bed of Suite 3 at Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, Texas. That bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in and Hotel Saint Cecilia is by far the swankiest hotel I’ve visited. I long for that bed and those butter-soft sheets. I had the pleasure of nestling in those sheets for a weekend in September when my most fashionable friend wed in style at the hotel.
We drove past the busy shops and restaurants of South Congress and turned up a quiet residential side street to find the Hotel Saint Cecilia nestled under an oasis of oak trees. From the moment we arrived, surrounded by rich teal painted walls in the reception room, I knew this intimate hotel had SOUL.
We were escorted to our room in the pouring rain and I immediately felt at home… Like my aunt was showing me where my robe was hanging. To be fair though, my aunt would never have such a swanky batik kimono robe waiting for me.
Hotelier Liz Lambert has perfectly married the charm of a 19th century Victorian with rock ’n’ roll decadence. The hotel’s unique design blends hardwood floors, shades of blue, leather and lush velvet to set the stage for luxury.
Vintage touches are artfully placed throughout the 14 spacious rooms. Whether it’s a suite or a poolside bungalow, each accommodation is finished off with a pop of red and a turntable. After all, the boutique hotel with soul and style is named after the patron saint of musicians.
The outdoor spaces are just as eclectic. Peacock chairs adorn the porch, the infamous neon SOUL sign lights up the pool, and black and white stripes paint the floor of the bar and patio.
Eternally classy and luxurious, Hotel Saint Cecilia is fit for a rock star, yet has the comfort of visiting your doting aunt. Just when I thought this property couldn’t get any better, I found out it’s pet friendly. Alfie will have to tag along next time!
