Since most of us had to put our vacations to Italy on hold, I’ve been looking for other ways to bring that la dolce vita into my own home. I love discovering clean skincare brands and all things Italy, so it’s only natural to merge the two.
Beauty products made in Italy are subject to the EU’s strict ban of over 1300 chemicals in cosmetics (compared to the mere 11 banned in the US). So when you purchase cosmetics made in the EU, you know they’ll be free of parabens, formaldehyde, phthalates, heavy metals and other unsafe chemicals.

Furtuna Skin
Furtuna Skin is a luxury brand of premium skincare made with organic ingredients from a family owned estate in Sicily. From biochemists to farmers, 95% of the team is Italian. Furtuna Skin’s women founders are committed to conserving biodiversity and sustainability by using wild-foraged ingredients.
I’ve only been using the aptly named Rituale Luminoso Transformation set for about a week, and can already see results. The face and eye serum leaves my skin feeling smoother and my pores smaller. Plus, I really appreciate the practicality of a dual purpose product.
I’ve been using Gua Sha boards since I had jaw surgery last year. My surgeon recommended the technique to promote lymphatic drainage and reduce puffiness as part of my recovery. The Biphase Oil is the perfect base to prep your skin before a Gua Sha treatment.
Available on Goop and Blue Mercury.
Skin & Co.
Skin & Co uses the antioxidants of black winter truffles in the Truffle Therapy Collection that is made right in Umbria. I’ve had the pleasure of eating truffle risotto in Tuscany, but I’ve never heard of the rare ingredient being used in skincare.
Few scents are more unmistakable than that of truffle. Therefore, you might be wondering if their creams and toners will have you smelling like you rubbed a savory risotto on your skin. Rest assured, the fragrance is more reminiscent of shea butter.
The Truffle Therapy Dream Cream is formulated with a gentler alternative to retinol, retinyl palmitate, so it’s perfect for sensitive skin without losing any anti-aging benefits. Be sure to wear sunscreen (always, but even more so using a Vitamin A). Use the Truffle Therapy Toner with a reusable cotton pad for a deep clean and to remove dead skin.
Fresh
While most of Fresh’s products are made in France, the Umbrian Clay line features clay from the eponymous Italian region. From their cult classic face wash to the Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer, I’ve used several products from Fresh. Each one always impresses me with its clean formula, fragrance and effectiveness.
The Umbrian Clay Mask was no exception. Use it as a spot treatment on problem areas or on your T-Zone to unclog pores. I didn’t find it too drying, but I mainly use this on my T-Zone.
Available at Nordstrom and Sephora.
Proraso
My husband started using Proraso when we moved to Italy. Years later, it’s still the only shaving cream he uses. They first introduced a pre and after shave creams in 1948, but have expanded over the years to offer just about every kind of shaving product you could want or need. Shaving creams, foams, shampoos, oils and balms are available in different lines for more tailored needs.
My only complaint about their shaving cream is that the metal ring on the bottom can sometimes rust. It’s probably not meant to be kept in the shower, but just something to keep in mind if you leave it on white tile. My husband has yet to live down the little rust rings he has graced our shower with.
